My AZ Lawyers Performs Free Breathalyzer Tests For Country Thunder
Thousands of people from across the United States attended the Country Thunder event, where COP members partnered with the Arizona Rangers and My AZ Lawyers gathered to raise awareness at the Florence, AZ festival. COP members are working the event as part of the PCSO team.
We know that many vehicular accidents happen every year and most of them happen due to the drunken state of the driver in addition to speeding, poor condition of the car and sleep deprivation. But we also know that to change society and improve it, we should not only know, but we must act.
Arizona Is The 5th Deadliest State To Drive
In the case of Arizona, we have the highest rate of deaths in the United States, but it ranks fifth in number of pedestrian accidents, behind California, Florida, Texas and New York, states with the largest population.
According to the 2017 annual report from the Arizona Department of Transportation, deaths related to traffic accidents on Arizona’s state and local highways increased for the second year in a row, and driver behavior continues to be a major factor in vehicle collisions.
In the last year (2017), 406 people died in Arizona accidents related to driving and alcohol-related deaths decreased, but did not disappear. And deaths related to illegal drugs or prescription drugs increased.
The deaths of pedestrians as a proportion of the total deaths from car accidents increased steadily. Pedestrians currently represent a greater proportion of fatalities due to traffic accidents than in the last 33 years.
Providing DUI services has shown us that education and prevention can do wonders to prevent fatalities. While such services are not a cure all, educating the population about the dangers of drinking and driving has been instrumental in reducing fatalities and drunk driving.
Accidents due to DUI not only affect the injured, but also cause many losses to the one who was at fault. In legal terms, being arrested in Arizona for a DUI accident is a very serious issue and should not be taken lightly. If your DUI results in injury to another person, you will face an aggravated DUI charge in Arizona which is a felony. The Arizona felony DUI charge has a severe punishment that could affect your entire life.
An Accident stemming from DUI, involving injuries to others, carries penalties that can include the following:
– 5 to 18 Years in prison
– Over $ 5,500 in fines
– 3 years, at least, driver’s license revocation
– Mandatory drug / alcohol screening and counseling
– 5 years probation
– Community service
– Points on driving record
– Ignition Interlock Device at your expense
– Criminal record
If you have a previous DUI conviction on your record, the penalties could be even more severe.
How Our Booth Helps Reduce Accident And Injury
My AZ Lawyers and the Arizona Rangers offered a breathalyzer demonstration to show the concert attendees the whether or not they were too drunk to be driving, and how drunk they were, so they could understand how severe a criminal offense getting behind the wheel would be. Fortunately, none of the participants who were part of the campaign were driving, they all camped on the grounds. The vehicle liability campaign and the Country Thunder event extend until Sunday.
